What We Accept

This site only accepts tasteful stories, tips, tricks or questions about outdoor travel with your children. If pictures or stories are in any way crude, violent, of a sexual nature, or depict harm to people, the environment, or animals, they will not be published.  If we are concerned about the welfare of your child we may try to contact authorities.  That said, we are not against breast feeding or nudity per se, and will publish pictures that are appropriate.  We just want to make sure that our subscribers are not offended by the content of this site.

OutdoorBaby.net features an  industry news section ( includes: what is happening, press releases, gear/product reviews and published editorials by Heidi Ahrens or guest writers) a public sharing forum,  gear/product reviews and a featured business request.  If you type something in any of these areas (not including the sign up page, where information is private) it is public information and I won’t be held responsible for what you write. Use caution when leaving a post or participating in any of these areas.

Outdoorbaby.net is an online news magazine that provides families who enjoy the outdoors with information on outdoor travel and lifestyle.   Posting gear reviews helps families to select appropriate products for their next adventure. You will find many product/gear reviews on OutdoorBaby.net.  We give a fair and truthful review to all the products we receive. If we cannot think of anything positive and only find faults in your product, we still may feature it on outdoorbaby.net.

All gear/product reviews published on outdoorbaby.net was written after a company sent a sample to us.  Most of the time we keep that sample.  We need to indicate that some people consider the giving of a product sample to be a form of payment.  For these posts we did not receive any monetary compensation, just a free sample of the product in question.

We never guarantee a favorable review.

At times, OutdoorBaby.net does get paid (with money) for featured advertisements, product reviews or features. A small caption will accompany the review/feature to mark it as a paid post.

If we feel that your product is dangerous, horrible or awful, we will post a review so that other outdoor enthusiast parents do not waste their money on it.

We do not guarantee a specific turnaround time for gear reviews.

We fully disclose and won’t lie. If a product is terrible then we will tell you and everyone else. We want you, our reader, to trust your family outdoor news source.

If you want to submit products for review but want it returned, the product must come to OutdoorBaby.net with a pre-paid, printed label and the correct packaging material.

We do not guarantee that we would return the product on any specific deadline that you indicate.

Why will you find general product reviews? 

At times OutdoorBaby.net will feature product reviews that are not related to specific outdoor pursuits.  In our mind, these products may be of interest to outdoor enthusiast families or they are environmentally sound.  Eco friendly products help protect our planet, which we think is important and one of the key ingredients in why we want to introduce children to the outdoors.

 Official Rules for Giveaways, sweeps and newsletters for Outdoorbaby.net:

Giveaways are often in conjunction with a product review. This increases traffic and exposure for a company or product.   OutdoorBaby.net will have an agreement with the company as to how the product will be shipped prior to displaying the product. The product will be mailed by the company.  In this case your contact information will be given to this company. If a giveaway is for the U.S. only, it will be indicated. No giveaways are allowed for recipients under 18 years of age.   Giveaways can be won by subscribed users who have shared a story, question, or tip on outdoorbaby.net.  Winners are selected at random.

You have to be 18 years old.

You don’t have to buy anything but you must be a registered member who has contributed a story, tip or question during the giveaway time frame.

Void Where Prohibited by Law

If entering a giveaway or contest your private information may be given to a third party if you are the winner. This allows them to send the prize to you.  OutdoorBaby.net reserves the right to disqualify anyone cheating, tampering with the entry process, using automated entries or anything of that kind.

Mistakes happen; computer viruses happen; technical glitches and difficulties arise. OutdoorBaby.net will do its best to fix the problem.  There are no guarantees, we may have to cancel, postpone, modify, or terminate the contest.

OutdoorBaby.net randomly chooses its winners, unless otherwise stated. If you win, you will be contacted via email. Winner must provide a legal first and last name, legal address and valid working phone number. In most cases, this information is forwarded on to the prize sponsor for the mailing of your prize; this is when your information is shared with a third party.  Replying to emails regarding your winnings means that you agree and understand this.

Outdoorbaby.net is not held liable for third parties' privacy rules.

If the prize is in the form of cash, a social security number must be provided. Winners are responsible for all taxes and or fees or additional costs that may be incurred.

Winners have 7 days to respond to all emails, and then a new winner is drawn.

OutdoorBaby.net has the right to revoke any winnings based on failure to comply with these rules. All decisions made by OutdoorBaby.net are final and binding.

OutdoorBaby.net will close contests on the correct date, but is not obligated to post who the winner is.
